The Centre for Teaching Excellence & Innovation exists between Yorkville University and Toronto Film School, serving both while remaining a distinct entity of its own. The challenge was to create an identity that positions the centre as a forward-thinking establishment, clearly distinguishing it from its partners. It needed to feel welcoming, academic, and adaptable, capable of supporting diverse learning environments while expressing CTEI’s own voice with confidence and clarity.

Inspired by themes of growth, transformation, and connection, the identity draws from the symbolism of the butterfly to represent continuous learning and adaptation. From this foundation, a visual system of layered, evolving shapes and a bright, confident palette was developed to create a presence that feels intentional and authentic; distinct in character, yet harmoniously connected to the academic communities it supports.
